Moving Forward with Wage Earning

Filed under: Income Steams, Personal — Jan @ 8:55 am

It was  a little over 6 months ago I started at Wal-Mart to work at a job that had more opportunities for me. I was very frustrated at my group home job because at the time, I was making their starting wage after being with them 7+ years (I received a raise in October) and even with excellent evaluations, I hadn’t received a raise in over two years. I had allowed the fear of change hold me back from doing something new. I finally was more scared of being in the same place in a few years. I am SO glad I took the step to make changes!

On Friday I started in electronics at Wal-Mart. It is a higher pay level and I will receive more training. I will really miss being in pets because of the people I worked with there. My department head was great to work with. I know this increase will help me move forward to one wage earning job and more time for my internet ventures.

My focus is to have each income stream produce as much as possible and each stream have it’s own income producing streams so that my income will remain stable even with changes in economy or a dip in income from one of my streams.

My wage earning has 2 streams from 2 jobs. If hours are cut or I want to take off, my income is still sufficient from wage earning. It provides me some freedom to take time off, like next month when my (step) dad will be visiting from Colorado. I am also now able to begin putting money in a savings account!

My self-employment income (writing, photography, art work) is on hold right now due to lack of time. It will be an area to pursue so I can wean myself away from wage earning income. My hours are different with the change in departments at Wal-mart and I hope it will make it easier to work on this.

Are you making the most out of your wage earning job? If not, see what you can do because it will help you move along faster on that path to financial freedom.

Easter Eve

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Jan @ 8:55 am

Yesterday I had an Easter Egg hunt with my grand daughter. She was just SO cute. I just love being in southern AZ, it was a beautiful sunny day with wildflowers blooming in my backyard, the grass in turning green, and orange blossoms fill the air with a sweet smell! Tomorrow on my day off I look forward to being in the backyard and having a BBQ. I will also decorate eggs with the girls. My living room is filled with stuffed rabbits, a collection that started 26 years ago!

Lawrence of America

Filed under: Personal — Jan @ 5:52 am

Last summer Lawrence of America was filming at the bar that I go to. I got to talk to him for a little bit. He seemed like a real nice guy who was enjoying making the Travel Channel documentary. He knew a friend who was suppose to do it, and couldn’t and he ended up doing the show.

They had him dressed up in a classical black jacket with lots of embroidery and  thick rimmed glasses. He certainlly stood out in the bar, even without the camera crew. He took lessons and danced with several of the ladies there. I was one of them. While he was dancing on the bar with the girls, I put a dollar in his pants. We’ll have to see if it makes “the cut”. It is suppose to come out next month on the Travel Channel, but I haven’t been able to find anything about it.
