Last summer Lawrence of America was filming at the bar that I go to. I got to talk to him for a little bit. He seemed like a real nice guy who was enjoying making the Travel Channel documentary. He knew a friend who was suppose to do it, and couldn’t and he ended up doing the show.
They had him dressed up in a classical black jacket with lots of embroidery and thick rimmed glasses. He certainlly stood out in the bar, even without the camera crew. He took lessons and danced with several of the ladies there. I was one of them. While he was dancing on the bar with the girls, I put a dollar in his pants. We’ll have to see if it makes “the cut”. It is suppose to come out next month on the Travel Channel, but I haven’t been able to find anything about it.
Hi Jan,
I’m one of the Exec Producers for the show. I’m sorry I wasn’t at the bar that night - that episode was the only one I wasn’t physically there for!
I wanted to let you know the series premieres this Tuesday, June 3, on the Travel Channel at 11pm.
Your episode goes to air in a few weeks, and I’m pretty sure you’ve made the cut. In fact there’s a clip from the bar on YouTube - so you can see if you can see yourself. I don’t have a link - but if you go to youtube and search for Lawrence of America - you’ll find it.
We also have a webpage - http://www.travelchannel.com/lawrence which has the episode guide etc.
Thanks for being so helpful during the shoot - and you’re right, Lawrence is a nice guy. And feel free to watch the show!
Thanks, Tim

Thank you for the information, Tim! I enjoyed the YouTube videos that were made and I will be watching the show. I’m going to see if the Maverick will put it on when that episode is on.
