It was a little over 6 months ago I started at Wal-Mart to work at a job that had more opportunities for me. I was very frustrated at my group home job because at the time, I was making their starting wage after being with them 7+ years (I received a raise in October) and even with excellent evaluations, I hadn’t received a raise in over two years. I had allowed the fear of change hold me back from doing something new. I finally was more scared of being in the same place in a few years. I am SO glad I took the step to make changes!
On Friday I started in electronics at Wal-Mart. It is a higher pay level and I will receive more training. I will really miss being in pets because of the people I worked with there. My department head was great to work with. I know this increase will help me move forward to one wage earning job and more time for my internet ventures.
My focus is to have each income stream produce as much as possible and each stream have it’s own income producing streams so that my income will remain stable even with changes in economy or a dip in income from one of my streams.
My wage earning has 2 streams from 2 jobs. If hours are cut or I want to take off, my income is still sufficient from wage earning. It provides me some freedom to take time off, like next month when my (step) dad will be visiting from Colorado. I am also now able to begin putting money in a savings account!
My self-employment income (writing, photography, art work) is on hold right now due to lack of time. It will be an area to pursue so I can wean myself away from wage earning income. My hours are different with the change in departments at Wal-mart and I hope it will make it easier to work on this.
Are you making the most out of your wage earning job? If not, see what you can do because it will help you move along faster on that path to financial freedom.
