For some a dollar a day would be reason to give up the life of an internet entrepreneur. For others, me included, it is a goal that has been just out of reach!
I started a post in Wickedfire (there are some helpful posts there) after reading Bob Schmuck’s posts on a challenge he started to take $50 and turn it into a $1 a day within 3 months. He’s gotten really good simplifying things so that anyone (even me) can follow his instructions! For anyone that writes, the challenge can be done for less than $50. I am not able to try his challenge right now, but will in the future. I already have two topics picked out!
On Wickedfire a couple months ago, one of the members, SEO Mike, offered 10 automated blogs for free for signing up with a hosting company. Well I signed up. I was patient and waited for my blogs. Mike had some stuff come up and wasn’t able to do them as planned. He was willing to refund my hosting costs. I decided to wait until the next time my monthly hosting bill came due. I’m SO glad that I didn’t get upset or just take my money and run! Not only did I get my blogs, they arrived on Mother’s Day which really was great timing.
I know I’ve posted on creating stable income by having sites that bring in income at different times. Like one set of sites that bring in income during each season and pairing up sites that bring in income on the weekend with sites that bring in income during the week. Each set should be assigned a monthly expense. Well, one set I hadn’t thought about before is a set of sites that brings in income during day being paired up with sites that bring in income during the day. My automated blogs bring in income during the night. I have been so happy checking my Adsense and seeing nearly $2 the first thing in the morning the past couple mornings since my blogs went up! I know it’s not wise to keep the ads up long, but I’m enjoying this jump start. It is very encouraging and motivating for me. As I write this, I still have no cable internet to check this morning, but I can’t wait until I do. If I can’t get on today, I’ll have to call Bob and have him check for me! My son who lives here said a friend at work had no internet for almost two weeks when they upgraded in his area! (It’s almost 6:30 am and was back briefly, but gone again!)
I just tried to get on line and there was no connection.
It’s almost 5:30 am here (I went to bed too early and woke up early). My son’s already at work, so I called him in case he knew what was going on. Cox has an upgrade being installed, that was suppose to be finished at 5am. When his girlfriend wakes up, I’ll try to reset the modem and see if that works.
At first I was upset because I wanted to work on several internet projects since I was up early. I stopped myself from continuing to think about that and tried to come up with what I could do right now. I do believe in the motto “Let today turn out better than planned”.
I came up with a few things to do with my time:
- Cleaning the house-put that off for later
- Put some meat in the crock pot-it’s kind of early to start dinner
- Write-I can copy and paste when I have the internet back
Yesterday I really wanted to post, but got tired and went to bed. I usually have more energy in the morning and knew I’d be up early, I just didn’t plan on the internet being down! As I write, I’m thinking this is easier than going from blog to blog, writing, and posting.
This is what I’m doing this morning:
- Open a page for each blog
- Make a folder for the blogs that don’t have one
- Make a folder for “posts” in each blog folder
- Write posts on one document
Now when I get the internet back I won’t be overwhelmed with catching up or making time later.
(I got the internet back about 9am and had to go to an appointment.)
I had Jan’s Group Home Support blog on page one for searching it’s keywords on Google. The first ten pages of the search the blog 9-11 times. It was my top channel. When I was unable to tend to my blog, income slowly dropped as did its appearance in searches. My last couple posts weren’t targeted to my keywords, so that didn’t help either.
Things I can do to prevent this in the future:
- Have a 4 posts written and ready to post for “emergencies”. Schedule them for 1-2 per week depending on my circumstances.
- Make sure the last post up is keyword targeted if I can’t post regularly.
- Hire someone to post temporarily.
- Buy content to use for posts.
- Have at least one post every other week scheduled to post for at least three months and fill in as I have time to post.
My steady progress slowed down, but I can get it moving again! I know first hand the benefits of being on page one (and the first 10 pages, too) for a Google search and the loss when my site isn’t there.
