The Clouds Part

Filed under: Blogging, Income Steams, Plans, Projects, Writing — Jan @ 6:20 pm

I had an interview for a new positions at a company that I’ve worked for the past 8 years. I interviewed well, but so did the more experienced applicants from outside the company. I will know more next week. I have a peace that if I don’t get it there are other opportunities available for me. I do very much want the job and know I’d do an excellent job, but will be OK if I don’t get it.

To me it is proof I’m at a turning point and how far I’ve come since a year ago when I got over my fear of change and changed fields to retail for the opportunities.

I had an idea of charging a little more for article writing. I would do the keyword research and write a package of 5 related articles with high paying with low competition keywords. I offered it to my friends at Wickedfire and sold the package in about 24 hours. Others have joined the thread, Why Wait for Content? and offered packages also. There is SO much competition for the lowest price, I didn’t want to compete or wait for a writing job. The thread also got me another writing job!

Well, last night, while Bob Schmuck and I were talking about it, he came up with an idea based on it for a source of income for both of us. Once he told me about it, we both got the feeling like there was a bolt of lightening, the clouds parted, and we were standing in the light. We could barely get off the phone we were SO excited.

I have some projects to finish up and will then help develop it. Bob has gotten started already and bought the domain before we got off the phone. The first one we wanted was available!

There are so many opportunities ahead of me, including advancement at Wal-mart! The events lately sure off-set the challenges I’ve had to face the past few months.

Not sure where all this will lead, but I do know I’m excited! :)

This is for you Coglethorpe!

I am not good at getting traffic, but my son, Bob Schmuck is! He broke the $1000 a month milestone this year.

Here are some his posts:

Hope this helps! I’m hoping to start using what I’ve learned from him soon.

Finding a Niche

Filed under: Blogging, Income Steams, Instructional, Writing — Jan @ 8:57 am

A niche is a specialized market. For entrepreneurs, a niche + little or no competition = internet income!

The possibilities for niches are endless, but your time available is not! Even if you are among the few who have excessive time available, it is best to make that time as productive and efficient as possible.

1. Choose a list category:

  • PASSION-interests, causes, and/or ideas that you have a passion for and a heart for
  • KNOWLEDGE-topics you have a lot of knowledge about
  • EXPERIENCE-jobs, hobbies, personal experiences, or any skills and knowledge that you have acquired through living it
  • INTEREST-areas of interest but have not had the chance to research or lear
  • RANDOM-whenever you are searching for anything on Google, glance at the number of sites that come up. If it is 1,000,000 or less, write it down
  • EDUCATED GUESS-you just have a “feeling” or are sure a topic has potential

2. Add variations on the keywords:

  • Plurals by adding “s” to one or more keywords
  • Change the word (man>men)
  • Synonyms and “other” words (photograph>photo, picture, pic, snapshot)
  • Common misspelling

3. Research

  • Make a list of all related keywords.
  • Keyword Discovery-check the keyword/s
  • Google Adwords keyword tool-find related keywords that pay $1 and higher or tail end keywords and go for lower paying words
  • Google-Google keywords and eliminated any keywords that resulted in over 1,000,000 sites. Highlight any keywords on my list that had several sponsored ads on page one of the search.

4. Pick the top three that holds your interest and get started with the following:

  • Chose blog or website
  • Get a domain name
  • Host domain
  • Design blog or website
  • Write or purchase content
  • Choose related ads and affiliates
  • Get traffic to site

Once the site is set up, REPEAT to build a large and consistent income streams.
