Being an Internet Entreprenuer During Stressful Times
Since March 26, 2008 I have been dealing with a painful situation with one of my children. During the next week and a half it will come to a resolve and not in the way that I had hoped. No one who actually knows the truth about the situation can believe it has come to the point that it has and that people of authority can ignore the truth.
It is a stressful time for me and my family. Still I am an Internet entrepreneur. I have been unable to work much on my paid writing, but have found some relaxation and diversion in working on my new project 365 Ways to Save Money. Instead of writing for pay, I have written for myself here on Jan’s Ideas and for other projects. Sometimes taking care of yourself to get through a situation will include rearranging things as an Internet entrepreneur and working on things that you choose to and that you enjoy to keep movement in your Internet pursuits.
I do need to get back to my paid writing. I have some extra days off to deal with some legal issues involved in the situation. I hope to get some articles out then. My deadline for my break is 2-6-09. If I can’t get out of this place of lack of motivation by then, I will just force myself to get back on track. Reducing my income will only add to an already stressful situation. I have to get maintain my income to avoid other problems in my life.
Here are some things I’ve done to deal with the stress:
- I have cleaned up my at home work area. Sometimes when the rest of my life is disorderly, it is nice to have pockets of order in my cluttered home. It is easier to go to the computer when it is a place of order when so much else seems out of order.
- I pray and then I pray some more. When I start to feel distracted or my sleep is interrupted, I pray. It quiets my thoughts, brings me peace, and allows rest.
- I have been taking walks during my breaks at work. Being outside has been healing. I may visit on the phone with my sister, pray, think of ideas for projects, or just enjoy the weather and the rustling of leaves.
- I don’t wait until I am hungry or thirsty to eat or drink, I make sure I do it regularly throughout the day, especially drinking water. Stress can interfere with my appetite and I can get too busy to stop and get enough water.
- I maintain faith in myself. I have no clue how I will hold up the next few days, but I know I have hidden strengths and I can do it. I know I will not have to do it alone. I have God, friends, and family. Even my co-workers who I don’t know well are there for me.
I know I’m not the only Internet entrepreneur dealing with stress in their lives, I hope sharing how I am dealing with it will help others.
