After writing my last article and linking to some of my blogs, I realize that I don’t have targeted ads showing up any more! This will slow down me reaching my passive income goals, so instead of focusing on one blog at at time as planned, I will get some current posts on all the blogs.

Time flies when one is busy. Some of my blogs haven’t had an update in a year! I remember when I use to post several times a month on them! There is really no excuse for 365 Ways to Save to not have current posts because I paid for posts so that there is a post for everyday of the year. I just need to double check each post and put it up. The idea on that blog is to not have the year posted and have a post for every day of the year. Once it starts making some money I will move it to its own domain. I should have been able to do that by now because I started the blog a year and a half ago!

So I will be getting a few posts up on all of the blogs. Here is my new plan:

4-6 posts per blog that will be scheduled to post one per week

Continue to post regularly here on Jan’s Ideas

Focus first on Jan’s Group Home Support

Focus second on 365 Ways to Save

I chose Jan’s Group Home Support because I can write quickly for it and I want to market it where I work and here locally. I chose 365 Ways to Save because I have the posts ready and waiting.

I have to work wage earning several days and am going to have some of my photos at a craft fair, so I will start working on the other blogs starting next week.

There is the basic joy of writing for my business, Jan’s Writing Services, because of its advantages, but there is also joy in writing for myself, for my own Internet projects, and for no pay. Mostly my writing is for blogs and websites, but occasionally I do some journal writing. I would do more journal writing if I had more time. I’d like to do some family history writing for future generations to have. That gets pushed down pretty low on my writing priority list. Currently I write for income so that some day I can stop working at my wage earning jobs and just write.

Advantages to owning my own writing services:

Flexibility

Income

Learning new things

Enjoyment

Create jobs for others

Self-employment

Mobile

With writing for pay, I write about what I am paid to write about and though I love doing the research and learning new things, it is not always my area of interest. Since I have so many ideas and thoughts, it is almost a relief to be able to write down the things that I am thinking about! It is also really nice to just go straight to writing when I sit down without having to do the research first.

One level of writing for the joy of writing, is writing for my projects. Some of my projects include the following:

Jan’s Group Home Support-I love sharing what I have learned the past 12 years working with the disabled and mentally ill

Jan Fran’s Redneck Yard-this is fun to write for because I can do a little creative writing

Reduce Utility Bills and 365 Ways to Save-I enjoy sharing what I know and what others are doing to save money

Sadly, my own blogs, even the ones I enjoy have been neglected this past year. I’m hoping to get that turned around. This month I have posted regularly on this blog and have some articles ready to post on Jan’s Group Home Support. I had paid for posts on 365 Ways to Save and they have been sitting on my computer…such a waste! Not only financially for me, but for those who need help to save money as they struggle financially.

As I went to my blogs to get the links I see that with the neglect, the Adsense ads aren’t as targeted. This means that even if there are visitors, they aren’t finding ads that they will click on. This has motivated me to get moving on posting!

Another level of enjoyment is writing for some of my own Internet sites that I have just for income. Though the topic might not be of great interest to me, I like writing knowing that I will directly benefit (eventually) financially from my writing for the site.

For right now, I’ll have to be happy to get this post up and to get to my wage earning job on time!

A an internet entrepreneur, one of my goals this year was to put more time and effort into my own projects. I am off to a good start with starting one of my 365 blogs. Today I bought a domain for future 365 blogs. I had already started one of the 365 blogs and just used one of my generic domains. (I have 2 domains that have a generic name about ideas and I just add subdomains to them to keep costs down).

My first of my series of 365 blogs is about saving money, 365 Ways to Save Money. I am paying for content to get started. I will be adding about 15 ideas per week until there are 365 posts. Since it is at the beginning of the year, I am adding the posts with post dates starting January 1. If it was later in the year I would add articles as described in the article Plan for 365 Blog. It seems like every time I try a new WordPress theme, there is a little glitch. Bob Schmuck is always really helpful, but it is fustrating.

I chose a bright and simple them for the money saving blog. The theme I used for this blog wouldn’t put the Adsense ads in so they float in the text to the left. Bob couldn’t figure it out quickly so we decided to not spend too much time on it (time IS money) and just put the ads across the top. This is the first blog I have with the new WordPress dashboard. I like the button that automatically puts in the “read rest of article”. Using that option allows more posts up on page. I chose 7, which is one week of posts. Since my posts are short, the Adsense wouldn’t work in each post.

As much as I believe this blog will be bringing in income, I’m especially excited that I followed through on my goal to work on my own internet projects more. With the ongoing situation that has been a distraction and emotional drain since March 26, 2008 coming to a conclusion within the next few weeks, I expect after a time of adjustment to the outcome, that I will have more energy and be more focused.

One of my Internet ventures as an Internet entrepreneur is my 365 Blogs. These are blogs with no year posted and a post for everyday of the year on a topic. I’m working on a money saving blog and an inspirational blog right now.

There is a lot of writing so I have decided to pay for some content and combine it with my own content for the blogs. When choosing a blog design I have to modify it to remove the year. I was able to do that on a free WordPress theme design I chose for only the post date and time, but not the heading. So until I can get Bob Schmuck to help me out in finding where the code is located for that, I found an alternative, I was able to find the place in the style folder where the date heading was on the blog. To erase the date temporarily, I changed the text color to match the background color. I can put the date as the post title until Bob and I can get together for him to show me what I am looking for so I can remove the year.

Using a static homepage is another easy way to give a WordPress blog a website look and feel without having to have website design skills.

As an Internet entrepreneur it is imortant to know when to say when and move on to something more productive. I probalby could figure it out, but I was investing too much time as it was.

Since my strength is writing and blogs, I always thought I could get a blog set up to “run” itself. I never had a complete plan or got started. I finally did!

Here is the plan

GOAL-Have a blog with 365 posts (yes…that is one post everyday)

CHOOSE TOPIC-Daily general living inspiration

CHOOSE NAME-Go Forth Today

SET UP

Create a sub-domain on one of my general use domains

Add WordPress

Chose a WP theme

Change the code to remove the year from each post

Add Adsense and Shopping Ads

PROCESS

Write 12 posts (one per month) before beginning anything

Write 3 more blocks of 12 posts until I have 365 posts

Evaluate

Fine tune

REPEAT

Use final process to make another blog

Add to the process

Keyword research

Traffic

SEO

Once money is being made I will repeat with blogs that have their own .info domain

The blogs that are the most successful will be used as a starting point for related websites and blogs with .com domains

Today I have 4 articles written. I just wanted to get started on something and I can write fast on the topic I chose. I am resisting doing anything else right now so that I can finish up some crafts by Sat and fulfill current writing orders.
