PIPA and SOPA and Ethics

Being ethical is one way each of us, as Internet entrepreneurs, can prevent further attempts at controlling and censoring Internet content. The indefinite postponement of the issue also shows that the people of the United States can make a difference when they join together for a cause.

To me, this is a victory for freedom on the Internet. I am not for stealing or piracy or counterfeit products, but I am for for Internet entrepreneurs who will not have the means that big companies have to do the necessary censorship of any company ACCUSED of infringing on copyrights. To monitor and censor websites to be in compliance with the PIPA and SOPA will come at a cost to website owners and Internet entrepreneurs that will eventually filter down to consumers

Financial Crisis

I got myself something to eat and was channel hopping as usual and between the election stuff was a lot of doom and gloom over with one financial crisis after another. I can’t hep but wonder how this will affect internet income. My writing business is doing very well, but my other ventures are just sprouting up.

With the recent government buyout, more people are becoming concerned. Over at Wickedfire there was a break taken from the usual party atmosphere over there and this thread, US Gov’t Bailout of Banks, got started. The thread has some enlightening information and informative links.

Wickedfire’s creator had a post back in March of this year, A Recession is Great for Internet Marketing and Internet Advertising Industry.

So what does someone like me who has a limited knowledge of things, think? I believe that there will be some who will bail out of the internet in fear, unsatisfied with the income that is coming in. That space will be quickly snatched up by those who are creative and looking for new ways to bring in some bucks. Sites will need to be relevant today and when things turn back around. It may be awhile, but they will eventually.

Even WordPress Gets Hacked

As much trouble and time my recent hackings have cost me (and even more for my host), I think WordPress has had a much bigger headache and expense.

They had a security problem and came up with the update WordPress 2.1.1. In the last couple days, that download was hacked into and they have put out 2.1.2. Here’s the story from WordPress.

I thank my host for informing me of the problem. The new version came out yesterday. Fantastico has not updated their version yet. I unfortunetly I don’t have the skill to upgrade without Fantastico . I burnt myself out trying and realize when to move on this time!
