Know When to Let Go of Internet Projects

Posted by Jan on May 21, 2011 in 51 Day Challenge

Knowing when to say when is an important skill. There are some projects that you know you must stick with even when you don’t see results, but there are others that will suck the life out of you if you don’t let go.

DAY 49-KNOW WHEN TO LET GO OF INTERNET PROJECTS

It is rough to let go of an Internet project that you felt was the best idea ever. Just like a parent who must recognize when to let go of their child, so must the entrepreneur know to let a project go and move on. A project that consumes a lot of time or funds without giving much back should be let go. This will allow more productive and promising projects to get the attention and time that they need to become income producing projects.

Follow your gut, but if your gut tells you to hang on to a large number of unproductive projects it may be time to part ways with your gut and make your choice based on logic. It can be hard at first, so just let go of a few projects at a time. Before starting new projects, take you time to determine if you really are able to devote time and energy to it ore if your plate is already filled up.

Knowing when to say when will also save money in addition to time.

Set Specific Long-Term Goals

Posted by Jan on May 20, 2011 in 51 Day Challenge

Chasing after a carrot that is always out of your reach is unfulfilling and an unsatisfactory way to live. You should have goals along the way, but you will want to have a specific long-term goal that you are working towards. An obscure, unspecific definition of being finished, getting there, or making it, will not work.

DAY 48-SET SPECIFIC LONG-TERM GOALS

If you don’t know where you are going, you will never know if you ever get there! You will never have a sense of accomplishment if you don’t know what you have accomplished. Heading towards a clear goal will help you to remain focused and set short-term goals that will help you to reach long-term goals.

No one runs a race without a finish line, and you shouldn’t be working hard at Internet projects that don’t lead to a finish line. You can always start again once one “race” is finished, but you will not be able to keep going indefinitely without a goal.

Determine Your Limits as an Entrepreneur

Posted by Jan on May 19, 2011 in 51 Day Challenge

You should know your limits so that you don’t over extend yourself. Doing so will cause unhappiness and burnout. It is hard to see what you have accomplished when you focus on what you haven’t done because you committed to more than you are capable of doing.

DAY 47-DETERMINE YOUR LIMITS AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

Look over the time that you actually have to devote to your Internet projects instead of making plans around the time you wish you had. Commonly there is a big gap between the two.

You will need to determine the time you have available and how much of it you can devote to your entrepreneurial projects. The next step will be to accurately estimate how much time it will take to accomplish the tasks that need to be done to reach your entrepreneurial goals. With every project, you will want to add some extra time to accommodate when things take longer than planned.

You will have an added sense of accomplishment when you accurately budget your time and set accurate goals.
