Started a Business-3 Hours
My landlord’s family owns a bunch of homes that they rent. They have a family business that manages the rentals. As more of my children are getting involved with the Internet projects, I was thinking a family business would be good. The business will be to develop and market websites and it will mainly employ my family.
Today I spent a lot of time doing some research online and then getting started setting up some things. When I researched business start up, I looked for government publications to avoid the sights selling business start up kits and charging for things that can be done cheaper or for free.
Business license-this is essential to having official business accounts. I researched the name I want and when I found out that there were no other businesses with the name, I filled out the paper needed and got a $10 money order to register the company name.
Email address-I got an email address with the business name in it. I choose Gmail because I already have an account and it is easy to have mail from multiple accounts go to one page. I also needed the email to set up a Paypal business account.
Checking account-I want to support local business and am looking into a credit union to have my account at.
Domain name-the name was available so I bought the domain name for the company. Will probably put up a one page website just to describe the company.
Looked a little into succession plans, paying taxes, and did a rough draft on how profits will be split up.
